Valuable to dermatologists, adolescent medicine specialists, family medicine practitioners, and primary care physicians, the Atlas of Adolescent Dermatology presents a concise and practical guide to the diagnosis and management of adolescent skin diseases. Each chapter follows a similar format, to assist in ease of reference, and contains information on diagnosis and management. The various chapters include conditions such as Acne, Seborrheic Dermatitis, Eczema, Scabies, Contact Dermatitis, and selected Genodermatoses.
This atlas is designed to provide some important information about skin conditions
that may be seen in adolescents. Individual patients will often present to the adoles
cent practitioner’s office with dermatologic concerns. During adolescence, body
image is a crucial contributor to emotional well-being. The visibility of the skin
results in healthy skin being a high priority for many individuals.
The adolescent practitioner will find a number of illustrated skin conditions, a
limited discussion of each topic, and useful references. Although not a comprehen
sive collection, this atlas is meant to address some of the most common skin
disorders.
We hope that this text will provide a useful starting point for addressing adoles-
cent skin issues.
