About the Author

At Delft University of Technology Paul Regtien managed several research projects on robotic sensors and instrumentation. Educational activities were courses on measurement science, measurement transducers, data acquisition and mechatronics. In 1994 he became a full professor at the Twente University, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, The Netherlands, and head of the Laboratory for Measurement and Instrumentation. Present research activities are measurement science, imaging (optical, acoustic, tactile), mechatronics, sensor technology and instrumentation.
